Aloha!  Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i, Inc. is an island-based company offering expertise in all aspects of archaeological cultural and historical research and field services throughout the Hawaiian islands and the Pacific. We provide a range of services that fulfill county, state and federal permitting requirements as well as facilitate land-use planning.

Our staff has worked together since 1982 to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive, and practical cultural resource management services. Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i has completed thousands of studies on all the major Hawaiian islands for hundreds of clients. (Please see our Projects page.) Our clients range from small land owners to major Hawai‘i land companies, multinational corporations, over 20 federal, state and county government agencies, and professional consultants including the majority of architectural, engineering,  legal and planning firms in Hawai‘i. Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i has also provided services, many at reduced or no cost, to over twenty non-profit organizations throughout the Hawaiian islands, including religious organizations, museums, conservation groups, and educational organizations.

Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i has grown over our 27 year history from a small family company performing simple projects to a company of over fifty employees performing large complex projects simultaneously and which continuously incorporates all available technological advances. In spite of this growth in capabilities we still take great interest in small projects to help individual landowners address historic preservation issues.

Our experience and capabilities were recognized in 1998 when Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i was selected to provide all archaeological services in support of the historic, six-year Kaho‘olawe Island Ordnance Clearance Project.
