CSH has been conducting projects in Maui county, including Lāna‘i and Moloka‘i, since the mid 1980's. Our work on Maui was recognized by the American Planning Association and Maui Historical Society when we received the Outstanding Historical Preservation Project Award in 1995 for our collaborative efforts on the Ke‘anae-Wailuanui Cultural Landscape Study. Other projects in Maui County include the restoration of Haleki‘i Heiau at Ukumehame, the 300-Acre Mānele Bay Inventory Survey on Lāna‘i Island, and the Kaho‘olawe Ordnance Clearance Project. Ms. Lee-Greig can trace her family lineage to Honua‘ula and Lahaina of Maui Island while the other Maui Island staff have been residents of Maui County for at least two years. Tanya L. Lee-Greig, M.A.,
Maui Island Director

has over thirteen years of experience in Hawaiian
archaeology and four
years in North American (Plains and Rocky Mountain)
archaeology. Her expertise is in cultural resource management,
cultural impact assessments, marine remains analysis,
historic and pre-contact artifact analysis. In
addition to her broad range of scholarly disciplines,
she has extensive technical knowledge. She
oversees the production of all GPS/GIS work and
electronic graphics and is herself a GPS/GIS
specialist and CAD technician. | |||||||||||||

Robert Hill, B.A., Archaeologist and Military Historian
- Experience: Nine years
of work in industrial and Hawaiian archaeology.
Mr. Hill
specializes as an aircraft archaeologist and his
technical expertise in the area of aircraft
identification was used extensively on the
Kaho‘olawe Ordnance Clearance Project.
Mr. Hill is skilled at technical illustrations,
HABS-format photography,
and historic research and has access to the District of
Columbia's Naval Historical Center, Washington Navy
Yard, and Hawaiian Sugar Planter's Association archives.

Jonas Madeus, B.A.,
Archaeologist - Experience: Over sixteen years of working on cultural
resource management projects throughout Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific
Basin. Projects have ranged from inventory surveys to monitoring work.
Experience also includes working with Global Positioning Systems (GPS),
conducting analysis of cultural material, and report writing.

Katie Sprouse,
B.A., Archaeologist - Experience: Four years as an archaeological
technician
on Maui and Moloka‘i. Ms. Sprouse also prepares computer graphics,
conducts lab work
and associated artifact conservation. | |||||||||||||

Kelene Pfennig, B.S., Archaeologist
- Ms. Pfennig joined the CSH team in November,
2011. She has exetnsive experience in large scale archeological and
data recovery, cave exploration and recordation, and is educated in Hawaiian
cultural practices and traditions. | |||||||||||||
